I am so excited to announce – Clark County will be issuing marriage licenses in Mesquite!
Residents and visitors to our city will not need to trek to Las Vegas to obtain a license to get married. Beyond the sheer convenience, this allows our city to develop Mesquite as a place to get married – a convenient alternative to Las Vegas.
Clark County Clerk Lynn Goya obtained approval to hire a new county employee for 2-1/2 days each week who will be given an office at Mesquite City Hall to issue marriage licenses and tend to other business associated with the Clerk’s office.
I have held a number of discussions with Lynn Goya and County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick about the economic development associated with the wedding business for Mesquite. Our community has a number of lovely locations for ceremonies, along with casinos, restaurants, hotels, florists, spas, etc, which can support a wedding party. It is their enthusiasm and can-do spirit which is bringing a part-time Clerk’s office to Mesquite.
Clark County is about to issue its 5 millionth wedding license since the county was founded in 1908. We want to take part in celebrating that milestone and there will be more on that later.
